New Parish Priest at Collem Church 2019

Collem Church -The Our Lady of Piety Church, Goa is called ‘Nossa Senhora da Piedade Igreja em Collem, Goa’ in Portuguese. The  Collem Church was originally a modest Cross which was replaced with a chapel in 1882. The Collem Chapel dedicated to Our Lady of Piety was rebuilt and blessed in 1916. The  Chapel was firstly under the Parish of Siroda and later transferred to the Parish of Sanvordem Church. In 1955, Our Lady of Piety Church, Collem, Goa was raised to a full fledged parish.

The Parish will be bestowed by a new Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Glen D’Silva, SFX in accordance to ordinance no CP-P/115/2019. Fr Glen previously worked at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Vaddem, Sanguem,Goa. He is a native of Carmona. He is a  Pilar father,who is a trained Indian classical singer and  has the ability to sing Biblical hymns in Indian classical style. He is Priest who prefers Indian classical music over the more accepted Western style while presenting hymns from the Bible. He started playing the violin in grade 8 and eventually started picking up the guitar, keyboard. He completed MA in Indian classical music from the Nagpur University.  He was also the head of Pilar Music academy. He also released a musical album, ‘O Namo’ available across Goa which has 25 verses from the Kristapurana.
