Mother of God Church Chinchinim feast celebrated

The Mother of God Church, Majorda, Goa also called ‘Mae de Deus Igreja em Majorda, Goa’ in Portuguese celebrated the feast of their Patron on 8^th September. The Parish Priest-Fr Ave Maria Afonso stated that the Parish youth built boats and decorated them with the help of some elders who also joined in.

The Parish Priest also stated that some years when a few sailors were stranded in the storm they prayed to Mother Mary and the storm calmed down, so they came to the church with flowers and with boats as a sign of thanksgiving.

This tradition was revived some years back under the guidance of Fr Ave Maria who keeps the youth motivated and keeps them highly involved in the activities of the Church, stated a villager.
