The Hospital of the Poor at Ribandar, Goa

Hospital of the Poor. -The first building which we see just on the borders of Ribandar near the river side, is the Hospital of the Poor.

It has a pretty appearance, but has scanty accommodation for the establishment which was transferred there by the Santa Casa de Misericordia in 1851. In every ward, whether set apart for male or female patients, a crucifix is hung. There is a chapel, with a chaplain residing in the house.

The hospital is not in a flourishing condition, and is only resorted to by the natives of the neighboring villages of the Ilhas.
