Fr João Viegas was a Goan Diocesan Priest who worked as the Vicar in the Church of Sao Braz (St Blaise) at Gandaulim, Goa. The St Blaise Church in Goa was built in 1563. He then worked at the church of Our Lady of Amparo(Refuge) at Mandur, Goa. The Our Lady of Refuge Church at Mandur, Goa was built in 1710. He was simultaneously the Vicar of the Church of Neura, Goa. He passed away while in service at Mandur, Goa in November 1893. He was a native of Carmona, Goa.
