Brief Historical background:
The Missionaries of Charity were founded by Blessed Teresa of Kolkatta in 1947. Their aim is to quench the thirst of Jesus for love, by alleviating the sufferings of the poorest of the poor, particularly of the sick and the dying, the mentally retarded, the handicapped, the unwanted and the abandoned children and also by Adoration of Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament.
