Brief historical background:
Founded in Ireland by Blessed Edmund Rice in 1802, this religious institute was approved as a Pontifical Congregation in 1820. The Christian Brothers are lay Religious called to the consecrated Brotherhood for the evangelisation of the youth. The Brothers came to India in 1896 and today serve in all the continents.
