Izidoro Emilio Baptista

Izidoro Emilio Baptista was born in Goa on 24 Sep 1815. He was a student at the polytechnic school, bachelor’s in medicine and philosophia at the university of Coimbra; moved to Paris in 1847 and attended the course of natural history in the Parisian Museum and received a doctorate in medicine and a licence in Natural Sciences. He returned to Lisbon in 1854 and joined the school of Polytechnics. He also lived in Spain and Italy. He was a member of the geological society of France and a member of the general council of public works and mines and inspection of the railways from Lisbon to Madrid. He was honoured with the knighthood of the order of Conception and from Charles 3 of Hespana. Izidoro Emiliio Baptista passed away in Lisbon on 17 October 1863 at the age of 48.
