Caetano Francisco Pereira, was born in Benaulim, Salcete, Goa. He was the son of Antonio Manuel Pereira was the attorney of Benaulim, Salcete. In 1840 he was chosen to go to study in Portugal where he achieved remarkable success in the faculty of mathematics, philosphy and the chairs which constitute the courses of medicine and surgery from Coimbra. Since he was not able to go back to Goa, he excercised in the clinic at Aviz, Monforte in the Castello de Vide. He soon gained fame as a skilled physician and a man on Honour. He was a part of the revolt of Maria da Fonte in 1846 and 1847 as a part of the academic battilion. He passed away in Crato on 31 July 1873.
