Antonio Pereira was born in Utorda, Salcete, Goa on 8th December 1817. He was a member of the Society of Jesus. He went to Europe to study at the Gregorian University at Rome. After a stay in Lisbon he moved to Rome. After his studies he was ordained as a priest in the basilica at Latareno in Rome in 1844. He then returned to India and went to Pondicherry and in Goa in 1846. He then went on missions to Madurai, Madras and Bengal. He was the author of a number of books on faith.
