Why a Theological and Pastoral Course for the lay faithful?

  • The aim of the Theological and Pastoral formation Course is to help Lay men and women to deepen their Knowledge of faith and develop their pastoral abilities so that they may answer with confidence the call to spread the Gospel in word and deed, acting as leaven in their parishes and in the society.
  • To provide enrichment for those who seek adult ongoing formation in their Catholic faith by providing a firm, systematic and practical foundation in Scripture, Christology, Ecclesiology, Liturgy, Sacraments, Ethics, Social teachings of the Church, etc.
  • To call forth, affirm and support the gifts and talents of Lay men and women and to foster a deeper appreciation of their Baptismal call.
  • To nurture spiritual growth and fidelity to the Church, as well as, to help the Lay faithful to prayerfully and critically reflect on their own life experiences so as to deepen their encounter with Jesus Christ.
  • To develop an awareness, appreciation and respect for the diversity and complementarity of vocations and states of life, of ministries, of Charisms and responsibilities in the Church.
  • To prepare Lay leaders with firm theological and spiritual training in order to promote active collaboration at all levels so that the Church in Goa may become a Communion of Communities.

The course will be held at the St. Joseph Vaz Spiritual Renewal Centre for around 20 weekends followed by Diploma day for candidates having a minimum of 90 percent attendance.

The total fees for the Course are Rupees 6000/- per person. This includes Board and Lodge and handouts. The Course is funded by the Diocesan Centre of Lay Apostolate.
