Fr. Geraldo appointed as new Parish Priest of Santo Estevao Church

The St. Stephen Church, Santo Estevao, Goa is popularly Called Santo Estevao Church in Goa. The St. Stephen church, Santo Estevao was built in 1575 and had to be rebuilt twice in 1683 and 1739 after being destroyed in the Maratha attacks. The present structure was built in 1759. This Church with such a rich history will be bestowed upon by a new Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Geraldo John Diniz this coming Pastoral year.

Fr. Geraldo was born in Tilamola on 5th Decemeber 1970. He was ordinated into Priesthood on 15th May 1997. He will take over the reigns of the Parish from Rev. Fr. Sebastião Eusico Lourenco Pereira who was recently transferred to the St. Joseph of Areal Church at Sao Jose De Areal after serving 7 years at the Parish. Fr. Geraldo had previous stints as Chaplain of Our Lady of Lourdes Chapel, Chisida,Nagar Haveli, Goa. He will take charge of over 3,000 Catholic Parishoners in his new Parish of Santo Estevao Church.

Religious Orders based in the Parish of St. Stephen Church, include the Sisters of the Holy family of Nazareth (SFN) and the social welfare institutions in the Parish is the St. Theresa High School, Santo Estevao, Goa run by SFN. The Feast of St. Stephen Church, is celebrated on 26th December every year.
