Fr. Arlino de Melo appointed new Parish Priest of Navelim Church

Navelim Church-Our Lady of the Rosary Church, Goa is called ‘Nossa Senhora do Rosaria em Navelim, Goa’ in Portuguese.  The church was founded in 1597 by a French Jesuit. It was then ransacked in the Maratha incursions of 1717 and 1739. On both occasions the Church was rebuilt by parishioners. Today the Our Lady of the Rosary Church, Navelim is the most populous parish in the Archdiocese of Goa.

The Church will be bestowed by a new Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Arlino de Melo in accordance with ordinance no         CP-P/47/2019. Fr. Arlino is a native of Moira. He was born o 9th June 1954. He was ordained a Priest on 4th May 1983. He previously worked at Our Lady of Health, Cuncolim and St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Aldona. He will take over the reigns of over 20000 catholic Parioshners in the Paris from Rev. Fr. George Norbert Aguiar who bid farewell from the Parish in accordance to ordinance no CP-P/46/2019. He is a native of Colva and was born on 20th December 1956. Fr. George was ordained into Priesthood on 8th May 1984. He has been transferred to Pomburpa Church- The Mother of God.

The Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary Church, Navelim, Goa is celebrated on the third Wednesday of November every year.
