Fr Leonardo Paes was a native of Sao Bras, Ilhas, Goa. He was licensed in canons by the University of Coimbra, apostolic protonotary, vicar of the church of S. Thomé, of the city of Goa and author of the Promtuario of the titled definitions which he died in his church in 1715 at the age of 53; and his tomb stands in the churchyard of S. Braz. The inscription on his tomb reads
