Caetano de Souza de Vasconcellos was born in Panjim, Ilhas, Goa. He was a Bachelor of Law and subsequently became a judge of law at the courts of Luanda, Angola. He was the son of Caetano de Souza Vasconcellos was a lieutenant colonel in Mozambique and President of the Municipal chamber of the county of the Islands. Castano de Souza de Vasconcellos was sent to Portugal at a young age after studying the preparatory stages at the seminary at Rachol, Goa. After his studies in Portugal he was posted in Goa and was appointed the substitute judge of law at the court of Salcete, followed by the the posting as a Judge at Damao. After his posting in Damao, he was appointed as the delegate of the crown attorney in Mozambique. His last posting was that of the Judge of Luanda in Angola. He was a well educated and distinguished person and a good poet.
