Joaquim Salvador Baptista was born in Loutulim, Salcete, Goa. He was the son of Narciso Jose Baptista and the brother of Dr Izidoro Emilio Baptista. He moved to Portugal along with his brother. He graduated in 1846 and was dispatched as the substitute judge of Sao Thome and Principe on 15 March 1848 and later on he was posted in Angola. he passed away in Angola on the 9 of December 1853 at 9 pm at the age of 39. He was awarded as a knight of the Order of Our Lady of Conception.
