The Pallottines (S.A.C.) (Society of the Catholic Apostolate)

PALLOTTINES (S.A.C.)
(SOCIETY OF THE CATHOLIC APOSTOLATE)

In Goa since 1959

Brief Historical Background:
The saint who saw the Church in the laity was born in Rome in 1795. When Vincent Pallotti was ordained a priest in 1818, the Church was in dire need of leaders who could rekindle faith and charity among the people of God. The vision of a participatory Church in which every Christian is actively involved in proclaiming the kingdom of God, lay dormant in young Vincent’s mind till God inspired him to found the Union of Catholic Apostolate, including laity, religious and clergy. The Society of the Catholic Apostolate is the core groups of this Union. When Pallotti died on 22nd January 1850, the Union he had founded had only a few members. But the Society grew and spread throughout the world. Today the Pallottines count nearly 1800 members working in 46 countries.
