In Goa since 2003

Brief Historical Background:
This congregation was founded in 1804 by Fr. Juan Bonal Cortada and Mother Maria Rafols bruna, from Spain. The Sisters take a fourth vow: Hospitality. At the beginning it meant ‘ to take care of people suffering from contagious diseases.’ It is now understood as ‘total dedication, with the greatest care and love, to the service of the needy, mainly the poorest, even at the risk of one’s own life’. The Sisters, who came to India in 1951, work in hospitals and homes for lepers. AIDS patients, the aged, the mentally retarded, abandoned children etc. besides schools, seminaries and parishes.

Charism: Universal Charity chiefly to the poorest and the most needy.
