Handi Khuris – A unique feast

The feast of Handi Khuris was celebrated with religious fervor at the chapel of Handi Khuris at Maina. The Feast of the Handi Khuris which is also called the farmers feast of the shetkarancho fest every year.The feast sees the farmers and other members of the community pray to the holy cross on a rosary made of palm leaves. After this the devotees are see bringing various sweets and food items as offerings to the cross.

The feast of the Handi Khuris also witnesses farmers blocking the channel of the lake to the fields for blessing. Once the channel is released, it will bring in a new harvest to the fields.

The feast is attended by hundreds of devotees and on the day of the feast all the masses of St Rita church in Maina are held at the chapel instead.
