The Salesians of Don Bosco

Salesians of Don Bosco (S.D.B.) (Society of Saint Francis of Sales)

In Goa since 1945

Brief historical background :
The society of St. Francis of Sales was founded by St. John Bosco in 1859. Don Bosco encountered countless youth on the roads and in city prisons. Realizing that this was greatly due to lack of care and family support, he decided to dedicate his life for them. He left no stone unturned to garner all possible help: priests, brothers, Sisters and lay people. Today the Salesians number more than 17,000 in the world and about 2,400 in India. Their Konkan Vice province was inaugurated on the 31st August 2004 and has about 18 institutions with 88 Salesians working in them.
